Martha
Jane Diana (a/k/a Emjay), originally an Alabamian, came to Memphis in 1992 from Iuka,
Mississippi, by way of New York City. She worked a fast-paced
professional job in New York and has found her creative side has
flourished since moving back to the South.
Emjay
offers a digital transcription service,
operating out of her home, and also
creates original, handcrafted stained
glass artwork.
Having
a special feeling for Native American lore, Emjay creates unique
stained glass pieces based on stories from those sources.
(Examples - Dream Catcher, Kokopelli, Wedding Vase.)
Another
series of stained glass designs features pieces depicting
Underground Railroad Quilt Codes used as guides -- for fugitive
slaves using the Underground Railroad as an escape to freedom -- to
learn the routes from one place to another.
From
time to time the stained glass photo gallery will feature other original,
handcrafted stained glass art from Emjay Diana Designs such as
pieces with unique geometric shapes, musically inspired pieces, and
picture frames.
