Styles
If
you have a specific transcription and formatting style you require or
prefer, please send instructions or examples.
Unless
otherwise specified, all transcripts will be Near Verbatim. Near
Verbatim: omits "umm", "ah", "er", pauses,
superfluous and extraneous remarks, etc. (unless it obviously affects the
context of the sentence/phrase). It does include interruptions, most
laughter, long pauses, and any interruptions. And, of course, inclusions
and omissions are subject to your specific instructions. All wording is
transcribed exactly as heard, not correcting grammar and including slang.
An exception to "exactly as heard" would be if a speaker is
interrupted and another speaker talks through while the first speaker is
finishing a sentence or phrase, the first speaker's comment will be
finished before starting the interrupter's comment, unless context is
affected.
If
you require, transcripts can be styled Exact Verbatim, capturing
all utterances-"umm", "ah", "er", "you
know", false starts, etc.-every verbal sound on the audio file,
including laughter, sighs, pauses, interruptions, and so on. This style is
mostly used for research and depositions,
